American Photojournalist Lynsey Addario has covered every major conflict and humanitarian crisis of her generation, including the Russia Ukraine war, where she has been on assignment regularly for The New York Times since just before the war began, bringing the world harrowing images and stories from the front lines, and receiving the industry's top honors for her work. She also covers climate change, and women's issues, around the world.

 

In 2015, American Photo Magazine named Lynsey as "One of the five most influential photographers of the past 25 years," saying she changed the way we saw the world's conflicts. She’s the recipient of numerous awards, including two Pulitzer Prizes for International Reporting, on Staff for The New York Times, first from Afghanistan and Pakistan (2009), then—most recently—from Ukraine (2023); the George Polk Award for Photojournalism (2022); the International Women's Media Foundation's Courage in Journalism Award (2022), the Overseas Press Club's Olivier Rebbot Award for a National Geographic story called "Veiled Rebellion: Afghan Women" (2010), a MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship, and two Emmy nominations. 

 

Her New York Times bestselling memoir, "It's What I Do," chronicles her personal and professional life as a photojournalist coming of age in the post-9/11 world. In 2018, she released her first solo collection of photography, “Of Love and War.” A documentary film about her life is in production and a limited series based on her memoir is currently in production and will stream on Paramount+.
